                                              Artist's Statement

I am primarily an impressionist landscape painter and it is almost always light and its effects that initially draw me to a composition.  In each of my paintings I am attempting to capture that moment in time when light bounces off certain objects affecting color, value and shapes, creating what one might call a "wow" moment.  There is usually a secondary idea behind each of my paintings as well, such as the personality of an old boat, or the feeling of a particular place or possibly some activity that is happening.  In each case, I am hoping to transport the viewer to a place and time he would like to experience.
